The postdoctoral mobile station for clinical medicine of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences) was approved by the Ministry of Personnel and the National Postdoctoral Management Committee in 2004. In the same year, being one of the earliest hospitals in China to establish such station, we recruited the first batch of postdoctoral researchers.

With our strong medial, teaching and scientific research strength, it has developed into a high-level station that is equipped with a scientific research support platform, a strong international cooperation culture, and advanced experimental facilities. At present, there are 98 postdoctoral co-supervisors, who recruit excellent doctors of clinical medicine, basic medicine, pharmacy, psychology, biology, biomedical engineering and other specialties to conduct scientific research. We stay committed to providing support and assistance for the platform and manpower expenditure, thereby promoting the growth of the number and quality of postdoctoral researchers. In 2021, 72 postdoctoral fellows were enrolled in the station, 1.5 times those of 2020. The number of them in the station exceeded 113, creating a record high. Notably, they have made remarkable achievements, with 13 China postdoctoral science foundation programs and 16 state-level scientific research programs in 2021, accounting for 30% of the total number of youth projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of our hospital. In a word, they are the pillar of our hospital in terms of scientific research.

In recent years, we have strengthened the reform and innovation of postdoctoral management. For example, we fully implemented a new clinical post-doctoral work system in 2021 and in 2022, we developed a model with research consultants that jointly recruits and trains research postdoctoral fellows. Doing so broadens the path and innovative mode to cultivate high-end medical talents, which provides a good platform for the growth of outstanding young scientific and technological talents at home and abroad. As a result, we have produced a large number of high-quality medical postdoctoral talents for China.

Annual Salary for Postdoctoral Fellows

1. Postdoctoral Fellow I: The annual salary is 400,000 yuan/year (before tax, including five social insurances and one housing fund).

Applicants are required to have obtained a doctorate from the top 200 universities in the world within the last 2 years or have worked as a postdoctoral researcher in internationally renowned scientific research institutes (according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities, QS World University Rankings, and Times Higher Education World University Rankings); or have a global vision, good scientific research quality, strong scientific research and innovation abilities, and have made prominent achievements in their discipline – for example, in the past three years, one or more SCI papers with an impact factor of 10.0 or above have been published (accepted) or two or more papers included in SCI with an impact factor of 5.0 or above have published (accepted). Applicants should be physically and mentally healthy with great development potential.

According to the work and scientific research achievements of postdoctoral fellows, co-supervisors can provide another 100,000 yuan/year of living allowance from project funds for them.

2. Postdoctoral Fellow II: The annual salary is 350,000 yuan/year (before tax, including five social insurances and one housing fund).

Applicants are required to graduate from the top 20 domestic well-known universities in terms of their major and get a doctorate or the applicant should have more than one-year experience of exchanges and study in overseas high-level universities and research institutions; or have been a postdoctoral fellow for a period of time in the Chinese Academy of Sciences and its affiliated research institutes. Applicants should be physically and mentally healthy, with a strong ability to independently carry out scientific research. According to the work and scientific research achievements of postdoctoral fellows, co-supervisors can provide another 50,000 yuan/year of living allowance from project funds for them.

3. Postdoctoral Fellow III: The annual salary is 300,000 yuan/year (before tax, including five social insurances and one housing fund).

Applicants are required to get a doctor's degree, be physically and mentally healthy, and receive good scientific research training to be qualified for this position.

According to the work and scientific research achievements of postdoctoral fellows, co-supervisors can provide another 50,000 yuan/year of living allowance from project funds for them.

Special Funding for Postdoctoral Talents

We will provide 200,000 yuan of supporting funds for postdoctoral researchers who are selected in the “Postdoctoral Innovative Talent Support Program” and the “Pearl River Talents Program” in Guangdong Province, of which 100,000 yuan is used as living allowance and 100,000 yuan as research start-up funds.

Postdoctoral Start-up Funds in Our Hospital

Our hospital will grant 50,000 yuan after the postdoctoral opening topic, and we will grant an additional 30,000—50,000 yuan after the mid-term assessment.

Postdoctoral Housing Subsidy

We will provide an additional 4,000 yuan/month of postdoctoral housing subsidy.
