Founded in 1947, Department of Urology has been developing for over 70 years. By exploring the first radical prostatectomies, the first transurethral techniques, the first laparoscopic surgeries, the first kidney transplantations, and other cutting-edge treatments in China, we have become one of the most famous centers of urology in south China.

We are currently a key specialty of Guangdong province. In the near decades, all the staff of the department have been working hard, carrying out a number of new technology, new projects. In recent years, we have got remarkable progress in the field of robot-assisted surgery, minimally invasive urology, urinary calculus, urological oncology, transplantation and andrology. Now we perform more than 2,000 operations and have more than 60,000 outpatients every year.

In the field of scientific research, we have undertaken more than 10 key projects of national or provincial programs, published more than 200 articles, and edited 8 urological books. At the same time, we have participated in many international and national academic exchange programs. Many doctors have been exchanged to top hospitals in the US and Europe, and we also take and teach exchanged doctors from other countries.
