The Department of Thoracic Surgery at Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital is a major referral center for complicated diseases of lungs, esophagus, thymus, mediastinum and chest wall. We aim to provide comprehensive diagnostic services and treat patients with the least invasive procedures available. We performed the first large-volume video-assisted thoracoscopy (VATS) pneumonectomy in the world, first 3D VATS uni-portal lobectomy for lung cancer in China and first Nuss surgery for funnel chest in South China. With our growing reputation, more than 2,000 surgical procedures are offered to miscellaneous patients every year, including lung transplantation, lobectomy, sleeve lobectomy, esophagectomy, thymectomy, sympathectomy, etc.
