To realize the goal of building a high-level hospital of Guangdong Province, we have formulated “a great plan and a great strategy”, and are building “great platforms, great teams and great projects”, and striving for the “great goal”!

Since the 13th Five-Year Plan period, we have received one second prize of the National Award for Science and Technology Progress, ten prizes of the Guangdong Award for Science and Technology Progress (including five first prizes), and one first prize and one second prize of the Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award. We have led seven key projects and undertaken 21 research subjects under the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology. There are 232 projects that have received the support from National Natural Science Fund, including 50 in 2020 and nearly 80 in 2021. Breakthroughs have been made in acquiring the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Excellent Young Scientists Fund. Our ranking among hospitals nationwide in number of projects approved by the National Natural Science Foundation (“NSFC”) rose from the 71st in 2019 to the 23rd in 2021. In recent years, the number of our publications of research findings on international journals has been rising year by year, including world-class journals like NEJM, BMJ and LANCET.

There are research platforms for fundamental medicine, clinical medicine and translational medicine in our hospital, with the total value of laboratory equipment exceeding 100 million yuan. We have seven key laboratories at provincial level and two at municipal level. A biological sample library, an international health center and a big data center have been built, and the Guangdong Medical Laboratory Animal Center has formally returned to our hospital. The above platforms support our scientific research in an all-round manner. In addition, we attach importance to multi-channel and diversified cooperation, and has built joint laboratories and other research platforms with domestic and overseas research institutions and academician teams to offer biomedicine translational services, further expand talent introduction channels, and focus on developing a platform to gather international talents and overseas innovation resources.
