National Key Clinical Specialty Construction Project for Department of General Surgery is Officially Launched

In order to promote the implementation of the national key clinical specialty construction project for Department of General Surgery, a launching ceremony was held in the multi-function hall on December 21, 2021. More than 60 people attended the meeting, including President Yu Xueqing, Vice President Li Yong, Vice President Chen Rufu of GAMS, heads of relevant functional departments and offices, and leading experts of various specialties of Department of General Surgery.

The meeting was chaired by Hou Tieying, head of the Medical Department. At the meeting, Professor Chen Rufu, the academic leader of general surgery, gave an overall introduction to the construction objectives, assessment requirements and task assignment of the project. After that, President Yu Xueqing delivered a speech. First of all, he expressed his congratulations to the Department of General Surgery for being selected as a national key clinical specialty construction project, which Mr. Yu believed was both an opportunity and a challenge. He emphasized that the Hospital would fully support the relevant work, hoping that everyone could live up to the expectations and make every effort to complete the construction goals, and take advantage of the key specialty construction project as an opportunity to promote the further development of medical education and research in general surgery.

At the meeting, President Yu Xueqing awarded a plaque for the project to the Department of General Surgery. The key specialty project undertaken by GDPH Department of General Surgery officially entered the construction stage.

The national key clinical specialty construction project settled in GDPH Department of General Surgery marked that the diagnosis and treatment capability of the Department has reached the national advanced level. During the three-year construction period, by focusing on benign and malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and gallbladder, pancreas, breast and thyroid, vascular lesions of large vessels and peripheral vessels, organ transplantation and other major and critical diseases, as well as the prevention and control needs of various common diseases in general surgery, and relying on the excellent comprehensive platform of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, the Department of General Surgery will be built into a highland for solving critical and refractory diseases and a platform for transforming medical achievements to further meet the medical needs of the people.
