The Research Results of Prof. Yu Zhang’s of the Bone Tumor Department were Published in an International Journal

Recently, the team of Yu Zhang, Director of the Department of Bone Tumor of our hospital, by working with teams of Prof. Yufeng Zheng of Peking University and Prof. Shuilin Wu of Tianjin University, published the research results entitled An Engineered Pseudo-Macrophage for Rapid Treatment of Bacteria-Infected Osteomyelitis via Microwave-Excited Anti-Infection and Immunoregulation in Advanced Materials (IF 30.849), an international journal. The research results mainly indicate that microwave irradiation of engineered macrophages membrane coated Fe3O4/Au NPs can produce O2- and generate heat to clear Staphylococcus aureus infections and induce M2 polarization of macrophages to diminish the secretion of inflammatory cytokines, resulting in the decrease of ROS production in MSC and promoting osteoblast differentiation (article link: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adma.202102926).

Since he came to Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital in 2018, Director Yu Zhang, with the support of hospital leaders and colleagues at all levels, has successively established the Department of Bone Tumor and the Orthopaedic Laboratory, and built clinical and preclinical teams. He is currently working on 9 national topics and 12 provincial and ministerial topics, and has published more than 40 SCI papers. The team of Director Yu Zhang conducted clinical and fundamental research according to the needs of bone tumor diagnosis and treatment, especially in the research of biomaterial tumor immunomodulation mechanism, implant anti-tumor molecular biology mechanism, biomaterial and its surface functionalization in promoting bone integration and large segment bone defect repair, etc., considerable achievements in scientific research have been made by in-depth integration with medical professionals of Academician Yingjun Wang’s team from South China University of Technology, Academician Xingdong Zhang’s team from Sichuan University, Prof. Yufeng Zheng’s team from Peking University (a Yangtze River Scholar, and a Distinguished Young Scholar), and Prof. Lingyun Chen’s team from University of Alberta, Canada. High-level research papers have been published in Nano Today (IF 20.722), Applied Catalysis B: Environmental (IF 19.503), Advanced Functional Materials (IF 18.808), Bioactive Materials (IF 14.593), Biomaterials (IF 12.479) and other journals.
