From August 14 to 15, 2021, the 8th Asian Congress of Abdominal Radiology (ACAR 2021) hosted by the Asian Society of Abdominal Radiology (ASAR) with Professor Liang Changhong from the Medical Imaging Department of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital as the chairman was held in Singapore online. The Congress aims to, in such forms as keynote speech, VOD exclusive lecture and round-table seminar, strengthen academic exchanges among radiology experts from various countries and regions in Asia, and promote the clinical, teaching and scientific research in the field of abdominal radiology.

Meanwhile, ACAR General Assembly was also held in the form of web conference, during which Professor Liang Changhong, whose tenure as Chairman of ASAR had come to an end in success by then, was highly praised by all ASAR members for his excellent work achievements, and the new Executive Committee of Asian Society of Abdominal Radiology was established based on recommendation, review and discussion among the Executive Committee Members, with Professor Liu Zaiyi from the Department of Radiology of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital being elected as the Executive Committee Member of ASAR after his previous tenure as Observer and Auditor thereof.

Since his appointment as chairman of ASAR in 2019, Professor Liang Changhong has led ASAR to successively host the ACAR in Singapore, the Continuing Education Program in Vietnam and other international conferences, strengthened the contact and cooperation with American Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR), European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR), European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR), Springer journal and other international academic organizations, expanded the coverage of member states or regions, revised the rules and regulations, improved the website of ASAR, and enhanced the roles and responsibilities of all ASAR Executive Committee Members.
