On September 28, 2022, Guo Yuxiong, Director of the PICU of our hospital, together with the team led by Yin Genquan, Director of the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, published online the latest paper titled “Application of Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing (mNGS) Using Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid (BALF) in Diagnosing Pneumonia of Children” in the Microbiology Spectrum (JCR Q1, IF=9.034), a famous journal of the American Society for Microbiology. This study used metagenomics next-generation sequencing (mNGS) to conduct sequence determination of the specimens of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) from 112 children with pulmonary infection to evaluate the diagnostic value of BALF-mNGS in the detection of children’s pulmonary infection pathogens.
This is a high-quality multi-center clinical study initiated by PICU of our hospital, and also one of the important research findings of the "Peak Climbing Plan" project of our Department of Pediatrics for the construction of a high-level hospital. Attending Physician Yang Aimei is the first author of the paper, and Director Guo Yuxiong is the corresponding author. Team members including Hu Yan, Zheng Guilang, Sun Yueyu, Chen Peiling, Wang Chun and Wang Jing participated in the research work.
